OVERVIEW
The Department of Social Science is one of the most renowned centre of
learning in the university . In terms of the number of departments and students, the
Department of Social Sciences is one of the university's largest faculties. The Social
Science Department was formed by merging seven branches , in which there are
Geography , Political Science , History, Economics , Social Work, Sociology, and
Library and Information Science . Seven branches under the department have a
reputation for high standards of teaching and research . The Department of Social
Science is dedicated to preparing our students to become informed, contributing citizens
in a world of diverse cultures and opportunities. With the goal of developing students'
overall personalities and instilling a sense of community in them, the department also
encourages its students to participate actively and successfully in extracurricular

FACILITIES
GEOGRAPHY LAB
The geography lab plays a pivotal role in enriching the
geographical base , it is a necessary part of learning that exposes students
to full spectrum of disciplinary subfields—physical, human, and nature-
society geography as well as geographical techniques. The lab is fully
equipped with survey instruments like Prismatic Compass and Staffs,
Levelling tripods, Ranging Poles, Measuring tapes, and, Surveying Flags,
Theodolite & and accessories, Dumpy Level & Accessories, Plain table
Survey and equipments, Planimeter, Compass, Rotameter, Rain Gauge,
Topographical Maps, Wall maps. Geographical Field trips are organised
for the students to study the natural occupancy of various facts and inform
them about physical changes with the help of the Global Positioning System
and the Geographic Information System.
COMPUTER LAB OF LIBRARY AND INFORMATION SCIENCE
E-Library of the Central Library is housed with 20 Computers with
Internet and Multimedia facilities. And this section is also used as the
Computer Lab for the Practical Classes for the UG and PG Students of
Department of Social Science( Library and Information Science). With the
help of this Computer Lab the Teacher use to train the students on various
Library Software Packages like koha, SOUL etc. And the students practice
hands on by the help of this Computer Lab.
